Emergency restoration of the medieval monastery complex after a fire in 2010, Himmelpfort, Brandenburg

The Cistercian monastery Himmelpfort was founded in 1299 by the margrave Albrecht III of Brandenburg and built up in the following years by the monastery Lehnin near Potsdam as a daughter monastery. In 1541 the monastery was secularized. In August 2010, the brewery fell victim to arson. The fire destroyed the entire roof truss and the interior of the house. Only the outer walls and a gable wall unique to the building were preserved. The new roof safeguards the medieval gable while providing a new covered space for open events in the summer. The roof was completed in several stages of construction.
